Ardbeg Distillery on Islay’s southern coast, produces characterful, heavily peated single malts. Founded in 1815, the distillery experienced periods of silence in the 1980s and 1990s before it was revived under Glenmorangie (now part of LVMH) in 1997. Ardbeg’s relaunch coincided with rising global interest in peated whisky, and the distillery’s distinctive mix of medicinal peat, coastal brine, and sweetness quickly stood out.
