Founded in 1881 on Islay’s northeastern shore, Bunnahabhain originally focused on producing whisky for blends. Over time, it became known for a style that leaned more toward gentle, unpeated expressions—an uncommon approach on Islay. Its location near the Sound of Islay and spring water sourced from the Margadale Burn give the distillery a distinct character.
